Oscar Scoring!
Another year, another Oscar show.... Pretty soon I'll have another person to subject to the Oscars. Baby Clontz has no idea what's coming.
Rob Pilaud and Jeff Green tied for the top "prize," the details of which will be posted as soon as I think of something. The Booby Prize was won by Scott, appropriately enough, because New Zealanders won everything else at the show.
All in all, I think the awards were a solid lot. Return of the King was a real mind-boggler of a movie: a little bit of everything rolled into one epic. I had my problems with The Two Towers, but RotK was, if not flawless, a really amazing film. Sean Penn was deserving (though moreso for "Dead Man Walking"), as was Charlize Theron in "Monster."
Here's the leaderboard:

36 Weeks!
On Tuesday, I will be 36 weeks along. Here's a picture of me on Sunday. I can't believe that it's already March and our little one will be here in about a month. My doctor has told me I need to rest after work and on the weekends, now. It's hard for me to sit and do nothing. Lee has been WONDERFUL waiting on me hand and foot and doing whatever needs to be done. My bag is almost packed, so we're nearly ready to go.

Showers of Happiness
Lee and I have been very lucky. We had FIVE showers for Baby Clontz. First, my mom and sister, Michele, hosted a shower in NJ. They had it at an Italian restaurant with VERY yummy food! (The thing I miss most living in Atlanta is good Italian.) All of my friends in NJ came and showered me with gifts for the baby.
Then, Lee's mom and sister, Ashley, hosted a shower for me in South Carolina at a lovely little tea room. Lee's family and friends from SC came and we were spoiled once again.
In February, Lee's co-workers at Emory had a luncheon shower for us at a great restaurant near the campus called Flying Biscuit. We were spoiled once again with many gifts for the baby, including a gift certificate for a personal chef to come and make us meals while we are busy getting to know our little one. We can't wait to try it out!
Also in February, my department at AGL Resources hosted an afternoon shower at the office. My department put together such a nice event and so many people came to wish us well. It was nice that Lee and my mom could also attend.
The next day, Allyse Denmark and Jill Mills, two very wonderful friends hosted a shower for me at a great restaurant in Decatur called Watershed. (It's owned by the women in the band the Indigo Girls.) All of my friends in the Atlanta area came and enjoyed a yummy brunch. It was wonderful!
Thank you to everyone. Lee and I are truly touched and overwhelmed by your generosity and love.

New Wilco CD
That next Wilco record is now entitled "A ghost is born" and will, if the schedule holds, be released by Nonesuch in North America on June 8 and their affiliated labels virtually everywhere else in the world that same week.
The track listing is as follows:
At least that's what you said
Hell is
Chrome
Spiders (kidsmoke)
Muzzle of Bees
Hummingbird
Handshake drugs
Company in my back
I'm a wheel
Wishful thinking
Late greats
Theologians
Less than you think
(Thanks for the news, PaulyO.)

Baby Update
Melissa went to the doctor today and everything checked out fine. She's coming up on 33 weeks and Baby Clontz is doing just fine. Mom's feeling pretty uncomfortable by this point, but she picked up one of these for her feet, which seem to be constantly swollen these days. The massager is kind of insane, with an evil glowing red eye that ostensibly heats the water, but Melissa seems to like it well enough. Frankly, the thing kinda scares me.

Robotech's Back... Again
I bought the original Robotech DVD series back in 2001 because it was one of my favorite shows as a kid. The video quality of the DVDs was pretty mediocre, but it was mighty cool to get to watch it again.
A couple of months ago, I read that Harmony Gold was reissuing the entire collection on DVD in a remastered format with extra content and 5.1 sound. Skeptical I was, but when I saw the first collection (eps 1-12) for under $20 at Best Buy tonight, I picked it up in a moment of weakness, cursing myself the entire time. Having watched a bit of the premiere episode, "Boobytrap," I'm floored.
The real story isn't the video quality which is definitely better than the originals. There's a lot of grain, but it looks about as good as one could imagine it ever did. The amazing thing is the sound, which has been completely remixed and the surround sound just kicks. The sound stage is quite active and additional and enhanced sound effects were added in the remix. It's a really wild perspective on a series I've seen easily a dozen times. I'm anxious to watch it through to see the new footage, but even within the first couple of minutes, there was a new shot of the SDF-1 travelling through the atmosphere.
There's no extras this time, which is fine since I've already got those from the earlier sets and they're for sale at the Web site for people who still want them. The sound just really floored me, though. It's pretty killer.
